Truly, Christmas season is the most exciting and eventful part of the year. It is the great equalizer. Rich or poor, healthy or not, good or bad, everyone is happy and joyous. Christmas parties here and there; exchanging gifts everywhere; and of course, Christmas carols being sang and played almost in every corner and every household. hmmm..the Christmas spirit is very much alive and it is like a plague attacking everyone. It is that time of the year where people feel like children at heart and kids are at their happiest! The list of soundtracks of the Christmas film of Walt Disney is a list of only two singers on it. The album is composed of 15 songs with 14 songs by Alan Silvestri and a song from Andrea Bocelli. Amazingly, the compilation is a list of heartwarming and uplifting songs. The album is a perfect mix for you to enjoy the holidays and feel it more and let it move your soul in a good way. The only song sung by Andrea Bocelli in the album is entitled “God bless us everyone”. It speaks of humanity’s kindness and good nature and how it could lead to making everyone feel blessed and lucky. Everyone can feel the yuletide season now. The air chills us letting us feel the spirit of Christmas more. Gifts shopping here and there. Christmas decorations are set up where the colorful Christmas trees are lit up. The little angels are singing their own versions of Christmas carols. Everywhere we set our eyes and ears upon, the Christmas spirit is very much alive and felt. And that includes the movie screens. Disney’s third involvment in a Christmas themed movie most specifically Christmas carols is shown in theatres this season, A Christmas Carol. Walt Disney’s A Christmas Carol is directed by Robert Zemeckis. The movie’s summary follows. Miser Ebenezer Scrooge is awakened on Christmas Eve by spirits who reveal to him his own miserable existence, what opportunities he wasted in his youth, his current cruelties, and the dire fate that awaits him if he does not change his ways. Scrooge is faced with his own story of growing bitterness and meanness, and must decide what his own future will hold: death or redemption.

The infamous chipmunks trio is back on the airwaves singing with their cute, squeaking, and melodious voices. But this time, a rival group is beating them head to head and it is an all girls show. The group’s name is called The Chipettes. The girl band is also a trio with members namely: Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette. The sequel is entitled “Alvin and the Chipmunks II: The Squeakquel.  In the movie’s official trailer, the Chipettes were introduced singing Beyonce’s hit single, All The Single Ladies. The Chipettes did a bubbly rendition of the song. As expected, they sang it with a squeaking voice and did I mention, cuuuute (I  have to put an emphasis to this word) and lovely. The movie is directed by Betty Thomas and the voices of the Chipettes are Christina Applegate (Brittany), Amy Poehler (Eleanor), and Anna Faris (Jeanette). Here is the lyrics of the song:

The list of songs included sounds really lively and spells F-U-N especially with the Chipmunk-type-of-voice dubbing on the film and on the songs most especially. The tracks are a mixture of pop and RnB music. Surely, this will be a success once again after its debut film. The songs are full of energy and are very vibrant since it is what the movie is all about after all, sense of entertainment and fun with a good morale out of it (hence, track no. 13).

A little trivia for the movie, this movie is supposed to be released for March 2010 but is moved to December 2009 just in time for the Christmas season: a time of merriment and good vibes. Tune in for cute little Theodore and could he have a love interest on this sequel this time given that they have a rival now. Hmmm…the more you hate, the more you love.

Filter is back on the airwaves creating a new image on the music scene. This time, the band explored on the soft side of their music career rather than the usual heavy. Fans of the band were divided based on their preference with Filter playing mellow than heavy metal. Members of the band Richard Patrick (vocals, guitars, bass, programming, drums) and Brian Liesegang (programming, guitars, keyboards, drums) were very excited and positive trying this type of music.

Being no stranger to movie soundtracks, Filter sings for the action sci-fi thriller movie referred as Dooms Day, 2012. The band’s brand new single, “Fades Like A Photograph” is the one featured for the said movie’s soundtrack. Filter’s songs were also featured in the following movies: “Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight”, “Cable Guy”, “Crow: City of Angels”, “Songs in the Key of X: Music Inspired by ‘The X-Files’”, “Spawn: The Album”; “X-Files Original Soundtrack”; “Crow: Salvation” and “Little Nicky”.

Who would miss 2012’s main anthem that fails to move hearts and provoke tears. The young American Idol 2nd place winner sang the song with deep emotions and as expected with his sensational and powered voice. “Time for Miracles” is a rock ballad styled song. It is an appealing song meant to break the strong sense of the film with a touch of softness and emotions. Moreover, Lambert did not disappoint his audience (both fans and critics) with his singing voice for Time for Miracles. Queen guitarist Brian May who has worked with Lambert at the spectacular Idol finale, said in his blog how he was completely blown away with Lambert’s voice singing the said song. He also mentioned that he is not easily moved but with Lambert’s exceptional voice he was easily blown away. Lambert’s voice reaches out with sensitivity, depth, and maturity. Adam Lambert really stood out on the 8th Season of American Idol grabbing the second place after Kris Allen. The young LA based singer owned every song he sang on the contest. He is really a versatile singer who is no stranger to any singing career like theatrical stage acting/singing. He appeared in Wicked twice as a member of The Ensemble and understudied the role of Fieryo, the show’s love interest. He also had a role in The Ten Commandments. had a role in The Ten Commandments and appeared in The Zodiac Show.

If you’re a movie buff with a strong liking to watching films on the big screen with a Dolby digital surround audio; then, you would most probably have an inkling to watch 2012. 2012 is the epic movie for the World’s Dooms Day. Along with this association is the list of powerful soundtracks and musical scoring for the film. The film’s soundtracks played a very big factor in adding soul to the film. As thrilling as the film is associated it to be, it also has its soft touches in which a number of its soundtracks are also slow and moving. The majority of the tracks on the score rely on synth and wind instruments, mostly horns and various forms of flute stuck up in the background. Some of the action scene tracks can get a bit repetative in certain parts, but for the most part they are still an enjoyable listen.

2012’s music were arranged and done by Thomas Wander and the film’s co-screenwriter, Harald Kloser. The duo made a good job in doing big music on the big film making it more suitable for the big screen. The songs were perfectly blended on the scenes of the film. In addition to that, American Idol winner Adam Lambert sang the movie’s main theme, Time for Miracles. Another beautiful song featured was Filter’s “Fades Like A Photograph” which played on the scene where the earth is shaken and comes to an end. 2012’s soundtrack CD covers a range of music from heavy and bombastic to slow and moving.
