It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Posted by karenb | Lyrics | Sunday 20 December 2009 15:16

Truly, Christmas season is the most exciting and eventful part of the year. It is the great equalizer. Rich or poor, healthy or not, good or bad, everyone is happy and joyous. Christmas parties here and there; exchanging gifts everywhere; and of course, Christmas carols being sang and played almost in every corner and every household. hmmm..the Christmas spirit is very much alive and it is like a plague attacking everyone. It is that time of the year where people feel like children at heart and kids are at their happiest! One of the most common Christmas carol being played is the song entitled “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”. It talks of the beauty and festive mood of the Christmas season. It speaks of the different things that people do and experience during Christmas day. The song also has the joyous and festive tone making one feel the Christmas energy better and feel the grasp of the happiness it brings. Listening to this song makes one smile and better yet, warms the heart. Truly, Christmas season and most importantly, Christmas day is worth celebrating for. Merry Christmas everyone! :)

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
With the kids jingle belling,
and everyone telling you,
“Be of good cheer,”
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

There’ll be parties for hosting,
marshmallows for toasting and
caroling out in the snow.
there’ll be scary ghost stories and
tales of the glories of Christmases
long, long ago.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
There’ll be much mistletoeing
and hearts will be glowing,
when loved ones are near.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

Sing your hearts out and dance to the beat of this music at the same time, let your hearts dance with joy. Merry Christmas everyone!

God bless everyone – Andrea Bocelli

Posted by karenb | Lyrics, Movie Soundtracks | Friday 18 December 2009 15:33

The list of soundtracks of the Christmas film of Walt Disney is a list of only two singers on it. The album is composed of 15 songs with 14 songs by Alan Silvestri and a song from Andrea Bocelli. Amazingly, the compilation is a list of heartwarming and uplifting songs. The album is a perfect mix for you to enjoy the holidays and feel it more and let it move your soul in a good way. The only song sung by Andrea Bocelli in the album is entitled “God bless us everyone”. It speaks of humanity’s kindness and good nature and how it could lead to making everyone feel blessed and lucky. The song rekindles the goodness of the Lord and how everyone is created in His image and likeness.

God bless everyone – Andrea Bocelli

Let the stars in the sky
Remind us of man’s compassion
Let us love till we die and
God Bless us everyone

In your heart there’s a light
As bright as a star in heaven
Let it shine through the night and
God bless us everyone

Till each child is fed,
Till all men are free
Till the world becomes a family

Star by star in the sky and
Kindness by human kindness
Let me love till I die and
God bless us everyone

God bless everyone! Merry Christmas. J

Go out and smash it
Like Oh My God
Jump off that sofa
Let’s kick it OFF

I know that we’ll have a ball
If we get down
And go out
And just lose it all
I feel stressed out
I won’t let it go
Lets go way out spaced out
And loosing all control

Fill up my cup
Mazel tov
Look at her dancing
Just take it… OFF
Lets paint the town
We’ll shut it down
Let’s burn the roof
And then we’ll do it again

Lets do it
Lets do it
Lets do it
Lets do it
And do it
And do it
Let’s live it up
And do it
And do it
And do it
Do it, do it
Lets do it

Go out and smash it (Smash it)
Like Oh My God (Like Oh My God)
Jump off that sofa (Come On! )
Lets kick it OFF

Fill up my cup (Drank)
Mazel tov (La chaim)
Look at her dancing (Move it Move it)
Just take it… OFF
Lets paint the town (Paint the town)
We’ll shut it down (Shut it down)
Lets burn the roof (Woooooo)
And then we’ll do it again

Lets do it (x4)
And do it (2x)
Let’s live it up
And do it (3x)
Do it, do it
Lets do it(3x)
Do it, do it, do it, do it

Here we come
Here we go
We gotta rock
Easy come
Easy go
Now we on top
Feel the shot
Body rock
Rock it don’t stop
Round and round
Up and down
Around the clock

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Friday, Saturday
Saturday to Sunday

Get, get, get, get, get with us
You know what we say (say)
Party everyday (x2)

I gotta feeling (WooHooo)
That tonight’s gonna be a good night
That tonight’s gonna be a good night
That tonight’s gonna be a good good night

I gotta feeling (WooHooo)
That tonight’s gonna be a good night
That tonight’s gonna be a good night
That tonight’s gonna be a good good night

Whooo

The song is a hit party song which party animals love to sway and dance to its beat. The song basically talks about having a good time and good entertainment. The song is appropriate to the animated and vigorous spirit of the whole movie. The song is also a representation of the life the two bands are enjoying with their music career on how they live it enjoyably. Now, get your dancing shoes and dance to the beat of the song, I Gotta Feeling and feel the groove just like how The Chipmunks and The Chipettes do it.

All The Single Ladies – The Chipettes

Posted by karenb | Lyrics, Movie Soundtracks | Thursday 10 December 2009 16:34

4863_main_image_1245695792

The infamous chipmunks trio is back on the airwaves singing with their cute, squeaking, and melodious voices. But this time, a rival group is beating them head to head and it is an all girls show. The group’s name is called The Chipettes. The girl band is also a trio with members namely: Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette. The sequel is entitled “Alvin and the Chipmunks II: The Squeakquel.  In the movie’s official trailer, the Chipettes were introduced singing Beyonce’s hit single, All The Single Ladies. The Chipettes did a bubbly rendition of the song. As expected, they sang it with a squeaking voice and did I mention, cuuuute (I  have to put an emphasis to this word) and lovely. The movie is directed by Betty Thomas and the voices of the Chipettes are Christina Applegate (Brittany), Amy Poehler (Eleanor), and Anna Faris (Jeanette). Here is the lyrics of the song:

All the single ladies, all the single ladies
All the single ladies, all the single ladies
All the single ladies, all the single ladies
All the single ladies

Now put your hands up
Up in the club, we just broke up
I’m doing my own little thing
Decided to dip and now you wanna trip
Cause another brother noticed me

I’m up on him, he up on me
Don’t pay him any attention
Just cried my tears, for three good years
Ya can’t be mad at me

Cause if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don’t be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Oh, oh, oh

If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don’t be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it

I got gloss on my lips, a man on my hips
Got me tighter in my Dereon jeans
Acting up, drink in my cup
I can care less what you think

I need no permission, did I mention
Don’t pay him any attention
Cause you had your turn and now you gonna learn
What it really feels like to miss me

Cause if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don’t be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Oh, oh, oh

If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don’t be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Oh, oh, oh

Don’t treat me to the things of the world
I’m not that kind of girl
Your love is what I prefer, what I deserve

Here’s a man that makes me then takes me
And delivers me to a destiny, to infinity and beyond
Pull me into your arms, say I’m the one you own
If you don’t, you’ll be alone
And like a ghost Ill be gone

All the single ladies, all the single ladies
All the single ladies, all the single ladies
All the single ladies, all the single ladies
All the single ladies
Now put your hands up, oh, oh, oh

Cause if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don’t be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Oh, oh, oh

If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don’t be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Oh, oh, oh

Beyonce’s second single, All The Single Ladies is very fitting for the Chipettes group since it talks about women. It has a sense of women empowerment. It also features the popular dance craze which the lady chipmunks performed adorably making the movie more appealing and a lot more interesting and entertaining. This performance by the Chipettes is a must-watch scene on the movie. Hurry now and start booking for tickets for the premiere of the movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks II: The Squeakquel and you’re in for a fun ride. I’m pretty sure everyone especially the kids will be going out of the moviehouse suffering the Last Song Syndrome (LSS) -  singing tunes of the different songs featured especially All The Single Ladies.

Fades Like A Photograph by Filter

Posted by karenb | Lyrics, Movie Soundtracks | Saturday 5 December 2009 13:57

filter

Filter is back on the airwaves creating a new image on the music scene. This time, the band explored on the soft side of their music career rather than the usual heavy. Fans of the band were divided based on their preference with Filter playing mellow than heavy metal. Members of the band Richard Patrick (vocals, guitars, bass, programming, drums) and Brian Liesegang (programming, guitars, keyboards, drums) were very excited and positive trying this type of music.

Being no stranger to movie soundtracks, Filter sings for the action sci-fi thriller movie referred as Dooms Day, 2012. The band’s brand new single, “Fades Like A Photograph” is the one featured for the said movie’s soundtrack. Filter’s songs were also featured in the following movies: “Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight”, “Cable Guy”, “Crow: City of Angels”, “Songs in the Key of X: Music Inspired by ‘The X-Files’”, “Spawn: The Album”; “X-Files Original Soundtrack”; “Crow: Salvation” and “Little Nicky”.

Here’s a link to a YouTube video of their single, Fades Like a Photograph. Click here.

Fades Like A Photograph by Filter

Have you ever seen the stars at night and wonder

Why so bright (so bright)

Have you ever seen the sunset on a cloudy night

And wonder why tonight

And maybe there’s just one time with you

I want to remember for eternity, for eternity

Chorus

Photographs taken like memories of you they disappear

Colors of your eyes they fade with time

They just can’t stay clear, yeah!!

Fades like a photograph

Just want to bring you back

Have you ever seen the bottom of the ocean

From a plane, what a sight

Have you ever seen the sunrise

In the snow cap mountains from twilight

And maybe there’s just one time with you

I want to remember for eternity, for eternity

Chorus

Photographs taken like memories of you they disappear

Colors of your eyes they fade with time

They just can’t stay clear

Photographs taken like memories of you they disappear

Colors of your eyes they fade with time

They just can’t stay clear, yeah!!

Fades like a photograph

Just want to bring you back

Yeah, yeah whoaaa ooooh

Fades Like A Photograph is a mellow song which totally represents the gist of the movie having all the memories fade in an instant along with the end of the earth. It is a heartbreaking song which reminds each one of us the beauty of appreciating things while still having them and the gratitude one must have just because they have one more day to live. The song is quite mellow and poignant nevertheless, Filter did not dismay their musical career despite the changing course. So, before the earth shook and end, listen and appreciate this song.

Time for Miracles – Adam Lambert

Posted by karenb | Lyrics, Movie Soundtracks | Friday 4 December 2009 15:34

Who would miss 2012’s main anthem that fails to move hearts and provoke tears. The young American Idol 2nd place winner sang the song with deep emotions and as expected with his sensational and powered voice. “Time for Miracles” is a rock ballad styled song. It is an appealing song meant to break the strong sense of the film with a touch of softness and emotions. Moreover, Lambert did not disappoint his audience (both fans and critics) with his singing voice for Time for Miracles. Queen guitarist Brian May who has worked with Lambert at the spectacular Idol finale, said in his blog how he was completely blown away with Lambert’s voice singing the said song. He also mentioned that he is not easily moved but with Lambert’s exceptional voice he was easily blown away. Lambert’s voice reaches out with sensitivity, depth, and maturity. Here’s a link to a YouTube vid of the song — Time for Miracles. The lyrics of the song follows.

2012

Time for Miracles – Adam Lambert

It’s late at night and I can’t sleep
Missing you just runs too deep
Oh I can’t breathe thinking of your smile

Every kiss I can’t forget
This aching heart ain’t broken yet
Oh God I wish I could make you see
Cuz I know this flame isn’t dying
So nothing can stop me from trying

Baby you know that
Maybe it’s time for miracles
Cuz I ain’t giving up on love
You know that
Maybe it’s time for miracles
Cuz I ain’t giving up on love
No I ain’t giving up on us

I just wanna be with you
Cuz living is so hard to do
When all I know is trapped inside your eyes

The future I cannot forget
This aching heart ain’t broken yet
Oh God I wish I could make you see
Cuz I know this flame isn’t dying
So nothing can stop me from trying

Baby you know that
Maybe it’s time for miracles
Cuz I ain’t giving up on love
You know that
Maybe it’s time for miracles
Cuz I ain’t giving up on love
No I ain’t giving up on us

Baby can you feel it (feel it)
http://www.elyricsworld.com/time_for_miracles_lyrics_adam_lambert.html
You know I can hear it (hear it)
So can you feel me feel you….

You know it’s time….

Baby you know that
Maybe it’s time for miracles
Cuz I ain’t giving up on love
You know that
Maybe it’s time for miracles
Cuz I ain’t giving up on love

You know I ain’t giving up on us
You know I ain’t giving up on
Oh I ain’t giving up on us

Adam Lambert really stood out on the 8th Season of American Idol grabbing the second place after Kris Allen. The young LA based singer owned every song he sang on the contest. He is really a versatile singer who is no stranger to any singing career like theatrical stage acting/singing. He appeared in Wicked twice as a member of The Ensemble and understudied the role of Fieryo, the show’s love interest. He also had a role in The Ten Commandments. had a role in The Ten Commandments and appeared in The Zodiac Show.

AMERICAN IDOL is created and executive-produced by Simon Fuller, founder of 19 Entertainment; and executive-produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia North America; and Ken Warwick, Executive Producer, FremantleMedia North America.

Posted by karenb | Lyrics, Movie Soundtracks | Friday 27 November 2009 16:31

How can you not be carried away in your seats and let your emotions steal you from reality when you hear the song Hearing Damage playing on the movie, New Moon. It’s tune truly sets the mood for the movie inviting the audience more. hmmm… with this song choice, New Moon can never go wrong.

Hearing Damage by Thom Yorke

A tear in my brain
Allows the voices in
They wanna push you off the path
With their frequency wires

And you can do no wrong
In my eyes
In my eyes
You can do no wrong
In my eyes
In my eyes

A drunken salesman
Your hearing damage
Your mind is restless
They say you?re getting better
But you don?t feel any better

Your speakers are blowing
Your ears are wrecking
Your hearing damage
You wish you felt better
You wish you felt better

You can do no wrong
In my eyes
In my eyes
You can do no wrong
In my eyes
In my eyes
In my

In my eyes
In my eyes

Meet Me On The Equinox by Death Cab For Cutie

Posted by karenb | Lyrics, Movie Soundtracks | Wednesday 25 November 2009 16:18

3915519646_123103ced3

Who wouldn’t miss New Moon’s top of the line OST, Meet Me On The Equinox.  The song speaks of a guy’s intimate and firm feelings towards the apple of his eyes. Indeed, it speaks so much of the whole movie. Meet Me On The Equinox is New Moon in a song. It can relate to the very essence of the movie involved around the love of Jacob for Bella. pure. sacrifice. self-giving. The song as played on the movie made the scene more appealing and emotional. With its everything ends chorus DCFC surely joins the OST for the movie.

Meet Me On The Equinox is sung by Death Cab for Cutie. They are a Grammy-nominated American indie rock band, formed in Bellingham, Washington in 1997. The band consists of Benjamin Gibbard (vocals, guitar), Chris Walla (guitar, production), Nick Harmer (bass) and Jason McGerr (drums). Gibbard took the band name from the title of the song written by Neil Innes and Vivian Stanshall. Gibbard is also the man behind The Postal Service. He is also Zooey Deschanel’s (Summer Finn of 500 Days of Summer) husband. Although some of the fans’ reviews say that DCFC have better songs than Meet Me On The Equinox, still this song is the most fitting for the movie especially its dramatic tune and soothing melody with a touch of melancholy on its tempo. Nevertheless, the song is not that bad especially when you listen to it on the movie. The lyrics of the song follows. Listen and feel big bear (or should  I say wolf) hugs while humming to its tune.

Meet Me On The Equinox by Death Cab For Cutie

Meet me on the Equinox
Meet me half way
When the sun is perched at it’s highest peek
In the middle of the day

Let me give my love to you
Let me take your hand
As we walk in the dimming light
Or darling understand

That everything, everything ends
That everything, everything ends

Meet me on your best behavior
Meet me at your worst
For there will be no stone unturned
Or bubble left to burst

Let me lay beside you, Darling
Let me be your man
And let our bodies intertwine
But always understand

That everything, everything ends
That everything, everything ends
That everything, everything, everything ends

A window
An opened tomb
The sun crawls
Across your bedroom
A halo
A waiting room
Your last breaths
Moving through you

As everything, everything ends
As everything, everything ends
As everything, everything, everything
Everything, everything, everything ends

Meet me on the Equinox
Meet me half way
When the sun is perched at it’s highest peek
In the middle of the day

Let me give my love to you
Let me take your hand
As we walk in the dimming light
Or darling understand

That everything, everything ends

Us by Regina Spektor

Posted by karenb | Lyrics, Movie Soundtracks | Sunday 22 November 2009 15:36
Regina Spektor

Regina Spektor

Another hit in the list of soundtracks for the movie, 500 Days of Summer is “Us”  by Regina Spektor. Regina was born in Moscow, USSR to a musical Russian Jewish family. Her lyrics are equally eclectic, often taking the form of abstract narratives or first-person character studies, similar to short stories or vignettes put to song. Spektor usually sings in English, though she sometimes includes a few words or verses of Latin, Russian, French, and other languages in her songs. Since 2005, Spektor’s music has been used in various television programs and commercials. Her song Us is the song being played at the start of the film, 500 Days of Summer which is just fitting for the movie because of its playful mood. The song kicked off the lighthearted spirit of the whole film thus, inviting in the audience to set their mood in a cheery and light mode.

The song Us is distinct from other Regina Spektor songs since it incorporates a string quartet on it instead of her usual piano and vocals. Us has a playful intro with an eclectic flavor on it. Nevertheless, it sounds hip and cool. The song’s lyrics talks about how people will try to bring two people loving each other down; how two people could be such inspiration and a source of gossip; how love can make one so strong despite the stereotypes and how it makes one weak feeling down. The lyrics of the song follows.

Us by Regina Spektor

They made a statue of us

And it put it on a mountain top

Now tourists come and stare at us

Blow bubbles with their gum

Take photographs

for fun, for fun

They’ll name a city after us

And later say it’s all our fault

Then they’ll give us a talking to

Then they’ll give us a talking to

Because they’ve got years of experience

We’re living in a den of thieves

Rummaging for answers in the pages

We’re living in a den of thieves

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

We wear our scarves just like a noose

But not ’cause we want eternal

sleep

And though our parts are slightly used

New ones are slave labor you can keep

We’re living in a den of thieves

Rummaging for answers in the pages

We’re living in a den of thieves

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

They made a statue of us

They made a statue of us

The tourists come and stare at us

The sculptor’s mama sends regards

They made a statue of us

They made a statue of us

Our noses have begun to rust

We’re living in a den of thieves

Rummaging for answers in the pages

Were living in a den of thieves

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

And it’s contagious

Sing in with Regina Spektor’s song Us and feel the light mood of a summer day and reminisce on your good ol’ memories with loved ones. *winks*
