Lil Wayne and Far East Movement Rise to Number One

Posted by Natazha | Artist,Entertainment News | Friday 22 October 2010 18:23

Despite still serving time in jail, Lil Wayne scored the top album spot this week with sales of his “I Am Not A Human Being” CD reaching 125,000 units.

“I Am Not A Human Being” debuted a fortnight ago at number two as a digital album release only at the Billboard 200 album charts. It dropped to number sixteen last week before surging to number one with the release of the physical CD.

Over at the singles chart, electro-pop and dance act Far East Movement slides in on the number one spot with “Like A G6” featuring Cataracs & Dev. The California-based quartet end Bruno Mars’ four-week reign as they push down the latter’s “Just The Way You Are” to number two.

“Just A Dream,” the new Nelly track, is still doing well, hanging on to number three. Slowly but surely inching its way to the top is Rihanna with “Only Girl (In The World),” which improves from number six to four.

Maintaining a solid presence in the charts at number five is Usher with “DJ Got Us Falling In Love” featuring Pitbull.

Taylor Swift’s brand new single “Back To December” debuts this week at number six. Swift scores the number one spot at the Digital Songs Chart with an impressive 242,000 downloads.

Katy Perry, meanwhile, slides down three notches to number seven this week with “Teenage Dream.” Likewise Taio Cruz inches down from seven to eight with “Dynamite.”

Flo Rida is unmoving this week with the “Step Up 3D” movie track “Club Can’ Handle Me” featuring David Guetta who stays put at number nine. Rounding off this week’s rundown of the top singles is Trey Songz with “Bottom Up” featuring Nicki Minaj who rises from thirteen to ten.

10 Songs NOT to Play at Prom

Posted by Natazha | Entertainment News | Friday 21 May 2010 01:28

Music at prom (and graduation and any other teen dance event) has become a source of generational confrontation. Teens don’t understand the big deal. Administrators and parents who are red faced and appalled won’t tolerate rude language and sexual innuendo. The DJ in charge, stuck in the middle, walks the fence at every school dance trying to make both sides happy.

According to their screeners here are the Top 10 songs this season to avoid a prom.

  1. Rude Boy- Rhihanna
  2. My Chick Bad -Ludacris
  3. Over- Drake ( a Young Money member and Lil Wayne protege)
  4. Hey Daddy, Daddy’s Home- Usher
  5. Winner- Jamie Fox F/ Justin Timberlake
  6. Roger that- Young Money
  7. Steady Mobbin- Young Money
  8. Not Afraid- Eminem
  9. Lil Freak- Usher
  10. Bedrock- Young Money

There are of course probably 110 more songs that are not appropriate. These are just the most popular and most offensive and top the banished songs hit list. For a complete alphabetical list you can find them at the School Dance Network web site on their NATIONAL DO NOT PLAY LIST.
